What can I use that is not toxic to Rat mites?
My pet rat has mites and I do not want to use anything toxic in it ... Does anyone out there knows what I can do before they eat it alive? She also has a lump right behind the right foreleg ... any idea about that .. She is only 2 years and so take car .. She cursed mites have bought the game in the pet store! ..... Responsible pity that can not keep
I know exactly how to get rid of them, but you really need help from your veterinarian. Ivermectin is the way forward, but with a small animal that is difficult doseage get accurate. That's why I'm saying to see your vet - you need help, at least the first time, to know how to mix. Your veterinarian will probably have that use liquid Ivermectin (Ivomec alias). The pasta is not as easy to measure accurately. The liquid may be diluted with water and squirts in the mouth. Treat once a week for 3 weeks. You have to repeat because the treatment will kill adult breastfeeding, hatching eggs recently. You need to break the cycle of life. It is a good idea to clean caging every week when you try. Disinfect, and consider spraying with a flea bath in the cage. That insecticide sit and rest. Rinse well before returning to the rats in mites are some common problems with mice and rats for company. They can come in other rodents, wild rodents infected bedding, etc. I would not blame the pet store - it could be taken into the plant mites from a store (wild rat), or storage in the back of the store. Do not know where the bag was the lice. What can be done is to freeze all new beds in the home freezer at least several days before use. Been there, done. They have also helped others to get rid of mites.
